Quilts have a long history of being used for protest & social movements in the USA, from the slavery abolition movement to the AIDS quilt. Each piece of a quilt is exactly where it belongs regardless of where the fabric is from or what it looks like, and each piece is necessary for the quilt to stay together, warm and safe and reassuring to all who need it, much like our communities at their best.
