Collection: Our values

A note from Amelia, owner of Lauda:

It's my intention that every time you come into Lauda or browse this website, the values I hold most dear are clear and require no extra explanation. I hope that you'll feel surrounded by kindness, gentleness, and love for all people. But just to be 1000% perfectly clear: here's what I believe.

Queer love is beautiful. Trans people are miraculous. Black lives do matter. Human beings are not illegal. We are living and working on stolen land. Women should control their own bodies. The rich should be paying their fair share. Art is important and it heals. Small, independent businesses are the backbone of a city's unique character and identity. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are good things that we should always pursue.

These beliefs overlap and intersect in a hundred different places. It's always my goal for those beliefs to be reflected in the way I treat people, the artists I purchase from, and the products you see on the shelves at Lauda. I acknowledge that as a white, cisgender, able-bodied woman I have privilege over many other people, through no special merit of my own, and that I might not always recognize biases and injustices that don't affect me directly. I will always do my best to make sure that this store is a safe place for you, and I always want to hear about it if I've fallen short. Please, let me know if you have suggestions for me.
